Invention Robot  & Lightbulb Characters with Automated Lip-sync

I conceived, designed & modeled/developed the 3D "Invention Robot", composed entirely of inventions from all 3 main categories of invention:  1.  Mechanical;  2.  Electrical; & 3.  Chemical, essentially from scratch using AutoDesk 3D Studio Max software.  Each component was designed from scratch, assembled, "skinned" and animated.  Lip sync animation was automated using the Voice-o-Matic software plugin from Di-o-Matic.com after creating the 9 basic shapes for the mouth.

The biplane was downloaded from 3D Cafe and Platinum Pictures and animated with a cloth-effect banner I modeled/animated.

The lightbulb character was initially conceived by me, including the idea of using the filaments for lips.  It was modeled/animated by our graphic artist, Greg Sweeney (CGI Federal contractor) in 3D Studio MAX who added the electronic patent application like a flying carpet.  It was used as a narrator to enhance CBTs.

3D Flash Cartoon Export -- Shows Scalability Without Loss of Resolution

I custom animated the pushing of the white box by Widget.  The other scene show the application of motion capture data that came with 3D Studio Max.  The actor on the right is Richard Lehman, who also had input on the script/directing.Having Widget jog around the USPTO campus with the Director while talking about important USPTO concerns was envisioned.  Widget was designed to be versatile with multiple was to get around and all-in-one tools for arms so he could use a variety of pointers and tools.  The last scene shows scalable 3D Flash exported using the Swift 3D MAX plugin from Electricrain www.eRain.com

3D Modeling & Animation

3D Modeled & Animated Scanner & Virtual Environment

I modeled and animated this Kodak scanner, enhancing it with volumetric light, for a video demoing the Patent Information Capture System (PICS) using 3D Studio Max from AutoDesk.
